Who We Are & What We Do
We’re a private philanthropic foundation working to provide people in Maine with meaningful connections to the arts and the natural environment. By expanding access to these experiences, we hope to inspire people to sustain arts and environmental resources for future generations. Through grantmaking, convening, and resource sharing, we help organizations — especially those supporting rural areas and underresourced communities — build their capacity and efficiently achieve their goals.

Our commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable Maine underlines everything we do.

How We Do It
We strive to build trusting relationships with grantees, community leaders, government leaders, and like-minded funders across Maine, learning from individuals and organizations locally and beyond. We also support and participate in initiatives that educate the public about the importance of the arts, environmental protection, and inclusive, equitable practices.

In working to achieve our mission, we are:
ACCESSIBLE
We value everyone’s time and believe transparency is fundamental to building trusting relationships, so we strive to make our grantmaking and decision-making processes clear and easily accessible.
CURIOUS
We listen to our grantees so we can learn from them and respond to their needs, and we actively engage with nonprofit, philanthropic, and private and public sector leaders across Maine.
FORWARD-THINKING
We’re willing to take risks to innovate and adopt new ways of working to enhance our collective quality of life today and in the future.
THOUGHTFUL
We’re diligent in our approach to funding, ensuring that we reach residents and communities most in need of improved access, opportunity, and resources.
